Oil tank remediation
Would you like a customised quote for the removal/filling of your mazout tank?

Removal and excavation of heating oil tanks
Is your oil tank outdated and looking to switch to another energy source such as natural gas? At Vastgoedexperts, we can fall back on years of expertise in the removal/excavation of fuel oil tanks. We relieve you of all your worries from A to Z and ensure that you are fully compliant with all legal obligations.
Is it an underground tank? Then we must first clean the tank according to the legally defined regulations, and then excavate it with a crane. In some cases, we can also fill the tank and so excavation is not necessary.
An above-ground tank can be taken away in its entirety in most cases. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to dismantle them into smaller pieces first, for example when the tank is difficult to reach.
Padding with Benefil
In some cases, it is not possible to excavate an underground fuel oil tank, for example when the tank is too close to the house and the risk of stability problems and possible damage to the house is too high. In that case, we choose to fill the fuel oil tank with an inert material.
Also when the tank is too close to utilities, it is advisable to fill the tank instead of excavating it. Our staff can always give you tailored advice on this.
As for the filling material, at Vastgoedexperts we choose the product Benefil, an inert material that prevents the reservoir from moving. The product can also be used for other applications such as filling pipes, lifting subsided floors, filling hollow spaces, soil injections and insulation.
Take no risks
Whether removing/excavating a fuel oil tank or filling it, always have the work done by a licensed technician.
Given the health risks, it is strictly forbidden to carry out the work yourself. Our staff are familiar with the risks and know how to deal with them.

Cleaning of heating oil tanks
Before we can remove or fill your fuel oil tank, it is important that the tank is first thoroughly cleaned. A cleaning is always done according to the regulations laid down by law.
First, the remaining heating oil residue must be pumped out of the tank. If the capacity is less than 300 litres, Tankxperts will take the residue out free of charge. The next step in the process is to remove the residual sediment. Finally, we can start the effective cleaning of your mazout tank.
After the work, you will receive a cleaning certificate from us. You can use this document to submit your oil tank to a waste processor. It shows that the cleaning work was done correctly.
An oil tank cleaning is specialist work and is therefore best carried out by a recognised firm with the required knowledge and experience. Our experts have the specialised equipment and are familiar with the risks of the trade.
Replacement of oil tanks
Is your oil tank due for replacement? Then we will install a new tank for you. You can choose between an above-ground and an underground tank.
Above-ground tank
An above-ground fuel oil tank is available in polyethylene or metal in a rectangular, cylindrical or oval design. The metal version is often chosen as it is waterproof and corrosion-resistant.
A polyethylene tank, on the other hand, is not always resistant to UV rays coming from the sun and should therefore always be in the shade. An above-ground tank has some additional advantages:
- Maintenance-friendly (due to easy accessibility)
- Easy to install
- Budget-friendly
- Double-walled tank
- Any problems are immediately visible
Underground tank
In most cases, an underground tank is made of metal and is always cylindrical. The main advantage of an underground tank is that you do not lose space and the tank is not in sight.
